Happy Friday, what a dog-day-of-summer week this has been! You know it’s hot when I’m loving drinking beer. Here’s what else made my Love List this week:
I’m so excited to fly to New York City on Monday for a spell. Â I’m dying to see the exhibit Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty at the Met ,and so off I go with Eddie as a pre-birthday treat. McQueen, as many know (and many more discovered from the media attention given to his suicide), was one of the more creative geniuses of our time. Â Here is one of my favourite McQueen fashion moments, starring Kate Moss – I can’t wait to marinate in others in NYC next week:
My garden. The sunflowers are making a spectacle of themselves, I’ve more tomatos than I know what I’ll do with, and have never tasted greens so good. Â Most of all I love just sitting in the middle of it all, feeling it’s energy.
As I shared in an earlier post, last week I was in Dallas to attend the eWomen Network Conference (guys go too; eMales) which was brazilliant. Â I especially enjoyed hearing Jack Canfield speak, something I’ve wanted to do for years (he’s co-author of the bestselling Chicken Soup For The Soul book series). Social media guru Lisa Larter was also on hand and her ideas and inspirations from her breakout session are being implemented here at SPM to take us higher. Â A fat juicy shoutout to the Toronto eWomen I shared this experience with: Brawna, Enza, Mary, Michelle, Sharmilla, Tina and especially Donna from my team for being such a fun travel companion. Â (Girl you made me pee my pants laughing too many times! Diaper!)
Wild white horses (above) by Manuela Stefan. Manuela has been a pal of Eddie’s and mine for a while, last night we met to discuss her shooting our wedding in September. Â Easily one of the most talented photographers I know, I’m honoured that she will capture such a meaningful event. Â Manuela has always had a thing for horses and always had a desire to shoot white horses. She told us the story of how a (minor) car accident on a snowy day last winter on a quiet road in Collingwood led to a series of events and rendezvous, filled with signposts, which eventually led her to the south of France where she fulfilled a lifelong dream this spring. Â From a Law of Attraction perspective, this is a great example of why beating the drum of what goes wrong (in this case, a car accident) holds you apart from attaining what you desire. Â Had Manuela not had that accident there’s no way the events she experienced, including meeting the people she met that ultimately led her to the photoshoot of her dreams, would have unfolded. Â Everything is a co-operative component to bring you what you want.
I have a vision board in my office and it’s a regular practice of mine to write a daily Love List in my journal and I’m a big visualizer, it’s a powerful tool.  So I loved when in Dallas Jack Canfield encouraged everyone in his keynote to create a 101 goals Before I Die list.  We’ve all heard of such lists before, and the movie The Bucket List popularized the concept further.  But on the plane ride back to Toronto I began my own list and I would encourage anyone reading this to do the same, if only for the fun feeling you get from doing it.  So far my list has 21 things down on them and I’m adding to it daily.
Have a wonderful summer weekend!
