Elevate, Celebrate

Mexico City :: Is it true that I, fueled, inspired, by Madonna as I have been since she exploded back when I was in high school, was front row centre at her outdoor concert before 60,000 screaming fans in Mexico City last weekend? Is it? Were my husband Patrick and friend Philip really surrounded all weekend by her dancers – all of us staying at the W Hotel – sexy gorgeousness vogueing, contorting their way through the W lobby, bar, elevators? Continue Reading…

An Accidental Experiment

THE EMANCIPATION OF SHAUNIE :: And then the day came when I just didn’t feel like fighting a great fight – for now – with my cell phone provider over the huge bill they think I’m going to pay because I went to Las Vegas and stupidly brought my iPhone. $1000 they’d like, please. The catch is, I was in Vegas to shoot my show, which means I had my whole team with me, and my husband. There was really no one I had to speak to so urgently Continue Reading…

Not A Match

RETHINK :: As a person who knows many people but has kept just a small circle of friends (sorry Facebook), I’ve come to understand some things about the transitory nature of the friendships we can have, regardless of numbers. This has meant having to discard my old habits of thought on the subject of friendship. Continue Reading…

LoA & The Big House

IT’S IN THE BAG :: Often I play a game with myself called “That’s for me”. I play it when I’m out for a run, a walk, in a shop, with friends, anywhere any time when I spot something I like. “That’s for me,” I say to myself in between thoughts. Perhaps I will have spied great energy between two friends or a couple; “that’s for me” is my way of standing at the buffet of the Universe with my plate out telling the server I’d like a serving of the same, please. Continue Reading…

Feel Good Friday

Annnd the word that best describes the week gone by: JUGGLE. Here is what I’m loving about it as I look back, all balls still in the air:

★  I got to visit with an old friend yesterday who in in from out of town. I love how we always just pick up right where we left off as though no time’s gone by. At the same time, a new friend I got along famously with during our recent time together but parted without exchanging contact info. Continue Reading…

Best Shape Of My 40′s

LOSING IT :: Isn’t the journey to having a body you love a long one? All my life I’ve been tall and skinny – and that was never good enough. In my 20′s and early thirties I tried to change by putting on muscle, working harder at the gym than a hooker at rent time. I had a trainer, I drank the shakes and powders, the works – stopping short of steroids. Admittedly I looked great. But keeping the “new me” up? Exhausting.

Especially now that I realize my efforts those years had been more about what others thought of me Continue Reading…

Feel Good Friday

Annnnd the one word that best describes the week gone by: CRAZY. Here’s what I’m loving looking back at it:

* The way the last group of attendees of my Law of Attraction workshop series have embraced the #30DayLoA “challenge” I issued end-of-workshop. Such a great boost to my own day when I get a notification from our group FB page of someone’s latest contribution.

* I am surrounded by some amazing, Continue Reading…

Rihanna I Hear You

CATFIGHT :: A few weeks ago while walking the dogs a newspaper headline caught my eye. Apparently Rihanna and Joan Rivers were doing battle on Twitter. “Rihanna confessed to Oprah Winfrey she still loves Chris Brown. Idiot! Now it’s my turn to slap her.” Rivers is alleged to have tweeted.

“Slap on some diapers,” Rihanna is said to have tweeted back, along side other ageist remarks. Continue Reading…
