I love using the word ‘alignment’ to describe the state of being you want to try and maintain as you go about your life. You know you are in alignment because you feel fantastic, you feel frisky, you feel joyful, you feel optimistic, you see the world through the eyes of wonder (without being a Pollyanna). Conversely, you know when you are not aligned because you feel negative emotions like rage, or you feel frustration, you feel anger, you feel depressed, you’re grumpy, you want to shoot someone in the head. Your emotions let you know in any given moment whether you are or aren’t aligned, and it’s the thoughts you are having that will either provide you with improved emotions or worsened.
As I write this, I am not aligned. My husband has been under the weather for two sleepless nights and my dog has aided the issue with constant barking at nothing. No sleep = pissy Shaun.
Which is why I love deliberately harnessing the Law of Attraction: it puts you in the driver’s seat. Alignment or ‘mal-alignment’ are your choice to experience, based on what you choose to focus on. At this moment I choose to get myself into alignment by writing about it. I’d rather focus on that than on the fact I haven’t slept in two nights.
Law of Attraction alignment is our natural state of being. It’s the harmonious relationship between you (the physical here-and-now-you) and You (the broader, expansive, expanding you, that which many call ‘soul’).
Law of Attraction alignment is when you are loving life, when you observe and appreciate what is, when you have decided that nothing is worth more than these positive feelings you are enjoying. Alignment is when you are at your best for yourself and for others, like your sick husband and rambunctious dog.
Law of Attraction alignment is when you discover a universe that bends over backwards to give you all that you want. Alignment is when all the genius ideas, solutions, inspirations, rendezvous with the right people at the right time occur, when life is all ease and flow.
This is where all true personal power comes from.
One question I get asked often is: how to you get done all you do? It is true that I do have a lot on my plate to manage, within the same number of hours in the day as anyone. My trick is to make my personal alignment my #1 priority as much as I can. It is a practice, like right now in this hot moment as I type.
The benefits are well worth it.
A good example occurred one morning when I had to get some blood work done. Off I went, taking a magazine and some music with me for entertainment while I waited in what has been, typically, a dreadfully long, slow line.
Before I understood Law of Attraction, I would have dreaded with great impatience the prospect of this process. Knowing what I now know, I didn’t let the thought of sitting and waiting change my good mood, my alignment.
Lo and behold in I walked to the lab – and no one was there. The place was empty. I could only smile – I hadn’t let the prospect of a long wait bother me, and therefore no wait actually even existed.
But then, as I pulled out my blood work requisition form, I remembered I didn’t have my health insurance card. I had canceled it after losing it. The nurse at the lab told me she couldn’t take blood without it.
Of course, negative, impatient, WTF energy began to well up inside me. But rather than allow those thoughts to take over, I made the choice to make maintaining my alignment my priority and I didn’t allow negative thoughts to fester. I thought instead that since I was out and in errand mode anyway, off I would go to the government offices (just up the street, it turned out) where they issue all kinds of documentation, including the health card I needed.
The government office was packed, rows upon rows of people, waiting for their number to be called.
I let the reception staff know why I was there.
Their answer? “Oh, you’re in luck! There’s no line up for that, don’t bother taking a number, just go see that gentleman over there.”
In five minutes I was on my way back to the lab – with my new health card.
The lab waiting room, meanwhile, had gone from empty to packed-solid; people trying to get blood work done during what was now lunch hour. At least I had my magazine and music, I thought, not thrown off kilter simply because the world wasn’t moving at the speed I thought it should be.
I took my new health documentation to the same nurse I’d seen earlier to sign in and take a number.
“Let’s do you now,” she said with a wink.
I let that sink in a bit: I was moved to the front of the line – for the second time in less than an hour.
Coincidence? Luck? My charming smile?
No, alignment.
When you first begin to focus on aligning yourself into a positive place of well-being, just by focusing your thoughts on things that please you – like writing a blog on alignment – you might call the results just that: a bit of luck, coincidence. But after time, when ease and flow like I enjoy becomes the core rhythm of most of your day-to-day, you realize fast the power there is to be had by keeping up with yourself. The broader You is always in alignment.
That is how I get done all I get done in a day.
The Teachings of Abraham are how I have learned about the Law of Attraction and they form the backbone of all the output of my media company, Shaun Proulx Media and what I call having a #ThoughtRevolution. Here’s one of my favourite clips from Esther Hicks, who channels the collective consciousness known as Abraham. It’s a good first-person rampage of appreciation, a great example of how you can tell your story, just to get into alignment:
